EastLake Presents Panel at Comic-Con 2014

Dr. Zhivago and Dr. Banatao shared how the arts, technology, and creativity can be sparked through the use of iPads and animation.  The program is an EastLake Elementary example of how the entire school community can contribute to the learning of our students.  Parent volunteers, and their contributions, positively impact student achievement and school culture.

School Safety: Everyone’s Responsibility

This past week, safety concerns and updates were shared during a School Site Council meeting, Coffee with the Principal, and at a staff meeting.  It’s been observed that parents/adults are contributing to safety hazards on campus in the following ways:

1.  Drivers are IGNORING and endangering the directions of the STUDENT SAFETY PATROL

2.  Parent drivers are TEXTING WHILE DRIVING through the school parking lot

3.  Parents are dropping-off students in zones not designated for drop-offs (staff parking lot is off limits).

Please respect the volunteerism of our Student Safety Patrol.  They work to keep our school population safe.  In addition, please obey all traffic laws and posted signs.  No texting while driving, or dropping-off in areas behind the school or in staff parking lots.

The furthest-most-west parking lot is a staff parking lot – closed to traffic.  Pedestrian gates at the back of school will be locked (there will be no point of entry at the back of school).  Students should be dropped-off in designated zones at the front of school.

School safety is everyone’s responsibility.  Let’s be great models for our children.

Curriculum Nights Introduction

EastLake is approaching the 2013-2014 school year with lots of optimism.  We are building off of another successful school year and making shifts in our curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices to improve teaching and learning for all students.

Most states will be shifting to the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS).  The CCSS requires increased rigor and different assessment practices to prepare our students for global competition and to ensure our students are college-and-career ready in the 21st century.
